It is home to The Leadhills and Wanlockhead Railway which is Britain's highest narrow gauge adhesion railway. The area also boasts Britain's highest golf course and the surrounding hills host gold panning in the burns. Indeed the nearby village of Wanlockhead is home to the annual Scottish and British Gold Panning Championships. The towns of Biggar and Moffat offer sightseeing and shopping trips.
