Holiday Accommodation in and around Kelso, Borders

Kelso: The bustling market town of Kelso is an attractive Borders town set around a large, cobbled square, which still forms the focal point of the local community. In the heart of rolling countryside, the town, a perfect place to visit on a cottage holiday, stands at the confluence of the Tweed and Teviot rivers, and has some lovely Georgian buildings and plenty of places of interest in town and nearby. Kelso Abbey was founded by French monks in the twelfth century but now stands largely in ruins, but is a pretty site to visit nonetheless.

Close to Kelso, magnificent Floors Castle withstood both the test of time and raids by the English rather better, and is still inhabited to this day. Smailholm Tower, about six miles from Kelso, stands on a rocky outcrop offering an unrivalled vantage point over the Borders. Other historic buildings to visit include Mellerstain House, a classic, elegant house widely agreed to be the finest example of the work of designer Robert Adam.
